Late checkout at the Marriott Sukhumvit.
I asked. They said 2,600 baht. For six hours.
I told them that was insane. Thirty seconds later: free until 2pm, no charge.
That negotiation cost me nothing except the confidence to say the words out loud. Most guys don't say them. They pay the 2,600.
Same hotel also wanted a 2,000 baht deposit per night. Not total. Per night. Plan a two-week stay and do that math.
Pay it on your credit card, not cash. That's the only tip that matters on check-in day.
None of this is a reason to avoid the Marriott Sukhumvit. The pool and chill-out area are in my personal top 3 in Bangkok. The rooftop bar at Octave has one of the best views in the city. The location in Thonglor puts you two or three BTS stops from Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza with a great street food market five minutes from the front door.
I paid $256 including breakfast. 32nd floor. City view. Good room.
