I pointed my UV light at a $76/night bed on Khaosan Road.
Brown. Yellow. Patterns I won't describe in an email.
This wasn't some $8 backpacker hostel. Three-star hotel*. Rooftop pool.
The Khaosan Catastrophe.
Here's what nobody tells you about Thailand hotels:
The star rating means nothing. The reviews are written by people who can't see in the dark. And the front desk has absolutely zero incentive to care about what you discover in your room.
I showed them the footage.
No apology. No "please don't tell my boss." Not even a fake "we're so sorry."
Instead: "Do you have a girlfriend?"
When I pressed them again, they smiled, said "good night," and walked away.
This is the game. You book based on photos and reviews. They know you won't check with a UV light. By the time you discover the truth, they already have your money and you're too tired to move hotels.
Most travel creators won't show you this.
Too worried about partnerships. Too worried about "being negative." Too worried about legal threats.
